Wild and Northwave grab Tour de Yorkshire’s opener in Doncaster

Wiggle High5 Pro Cycling’s Dutch claimed the fourth seasonal win with Extreme RR shoes

Alexander Kristoff in Frankfurt, Kirsten Wild at Tour of Chongming Island and Tour de Yorkshire: Northwave sprinters’ magic moment is going on. The Dutchwoman of the Wiggle High5 Pro Cycling - Women’s World Tour team entirely equipped with Northwave Extreme RR shoes - claimed the fourth seasonal win in a bunch sprint, in the Tour de Yorkshire Women’s Race stage 1 (Beverley - Doncaster, 132,5 Km), preceding Dane Amalie Dideriksen and Brit Alice Barnes.

Started by Beverley in the role of main favourite, on Thursday May 3rd, the 35-year-old athlete repeated the success achieved in 2016 Tour de Yorkshire on the same finish. Thanks to a time bonus of 10 seconds, Wild conquered the overall leadership with 4 seconds of advantage on Dideriksen and 6 seconds on Barnes, in view of the second and last stage of the British race, scheduled today, Friday May 4th.
