Northwave’s U23 World Champion equipped with Ghost XC shoes claimed the fourth seasonal win in the UCI Mountain Bike World Cup in Andorra Vallnord. Neff, runner-up today, maintained the overall lead in the Elite Women’s category. Fagerhaug leads the U23 Men’s ranking
Albstadt, Nove Mesto na Morave, Val di Sole, Andorra-Vallnord: Sina Frei’s winning streak in the UCI Mountain Bike World Cup rounds (U23 category) continues. On Sunday July 15th, the U23 World Champion claimed a beautiful success in Andorra-Vallnord, giving Northwave the umpteenth win of a wonderful 2018 MTB season. With her Ghost XC shoes, Team Ghost Factory’s rider preceded Evie Richards (+1’15”) and another Northwave’s athlete, her teammate Malene Degn (+3’20”), winner in the XCO World Cup opening round, in Stellenbosch.
In the overall ranking, Sina Frei leads with 430 points, ahead of Dane Malene Degn (340) and Brit Evie Richards (270), with two stages to go, to take place on Sunday August 12th in Mont-Saint-Anne (Canada) and Sunday August 26th in La Bresse (France).
After the victory in the first race of the day’s programme, Northwave claimed another prestigious result in the Elite Women’s category. World Champion Jolanda Neff (KROSS Racing Team) was second behind Norwegian Gunn-Rita Dahle, whilst Canadian Emily Batty completed the day’s top-3. Neff leads the GC with 1250 points, preceding Dane Annika Langvad (1133) and her teammate Maja Wloszczowska (927).
Between the two women’s competitions, the Under 23 Men’s race took place: Frenchman Joshua Dubau won the race, as Northwave leads the overall standings thanks to Norwegian Petter Fagerhaug, eleventh today.
In the Men’s Elite competition, Brazilian Henrique Avancini (Cannondale Factory Racing) finished fourth after winning the Short Track, on Friday July 13th. Italian National Champion Gerhard Kerschbaumer celebrated in the Cross Country, preceding on the finish line the World Champion Nino Schurter and Dutchman Mathieu Van der Poel.
