Centurion Vaude’s Austrian takes win in the opening prologue together with teammate Rohrbach. Cannondale Factory Racing runner-up with Fumic and Avancini. Spitz third in the women’s race
The Northwave riders had a good debut at the Absa Cape Epic, one of the most demanding, entertaining and important stage MTB marathons in the World calendar. Daniel Geismayr (Centurion Vaude) and his teammate Nicola Rohrbach wore the first leaders’ jerseys after the prologue on Sunday March 18th, winning in Cape Town with a 45’23” time. Behind the winners, Cannondale Factory Racing’s Manuel Fumic and Henrique Avancini, equipped with Northwave Ghost XC shoes, claimed the second place at 18 seconds. Francesc Guerra Carretero and Luis Leao Pinto completed the day’s podium at 49 seconds.
Northwave was also in the spotlight in the women’s race thanks to German veteran Sabine Spitz (Ascendis Health), third in the prologue with her teammate Robyn De Groot, as Annika Langvad and Kate Courtney conquered the overall leadership preceding Ariane Luthi and Githa Michiels.
