Padun and Northwave celebrate at Giro d’Italia U23

Team Colpack’s 20-year-old rider, equipped with Extreme RR, outsprinted a 6-man breakaway on the stage 3 finish line in Forlì

Team Colpack, the U23 Italian squad, equipped by Northwave with Extreme RR shoes, claimed a prestigious win at the Giro d’Italia U23 Enel. Ukrainian Mark Padun clinched victory in the stage 3 (Bagnara di Romagna - Forlì 140,5 Km), on Sunday June 11th, leading on the finish line a 6-man group daring the break away on the Rocca delle Carminate hill.

The 20-year-old from Donetsk preceded the new overall leader, Russian Patrick Sivakov, and Australian Lucas Hamilton. Padun now occupies the second overall place, 0:02 behind the new pink jersey.

The peloton splintered in the last ascent of the day, Rocca delle Carminate, after a tough stage characterized by many attacks on Casale hill and Monte Trebbio. Along the Rocca delle Carminate hill, 6 escapees - Padun, Sivakov Hamilton, Fabbro, Hindley and Davies – moved forward keeping on together until the final sprint won by the Team Colpack rider.
