The Italian brand announces the partnership with the new event replacing former Giro del Trentino. Northwave Custom Project realized the four leaders’ jerseys
A partnership of excellence: this is how the new bind between Northwave and Tour of the Alps, the new Euro-regional cycling event that took over from the Giro del Trentino 40-year history, could be defined. The stage race (April 17-21) has added a fifth day to its programme and has gone cross borders, now involving three regions - Tirol, Südtirol and Trentino - between two countries, Austria and Italy.
The five hard stages of the race will be faced by international stars such as Geraint Thomas, Thibaut Pinot, Rohan Dennis, Pierre Rolland and Giro del Trentino’s last winner Mikel Landa.
After the Tyrolean stages in Innsbruck and Innervillgraten, the event organized by GS Alto Garda with the support of the three territorial marketing boards - Tirol Werbung, IDM Alto Adige and Trentino Marketing – will move to the South Tyrolean mountains, and then to the historical course of the former Trofeo Melinda, before the grand finale in Trento characterized by the iconic passage on legendary Monte Bondone.
At Tour of the Alps, Northwave will play a big and prestigious role: the Italian company realized the race’s four leaders jersey in its Custom Project atelier, dedicated to custom apparel: fuchsia for the overall leader, green for the KOM, red for the Intermediate Sprint and white for the Youth Classification.
The jerseys of the “Performance 2” line are characterized by raw-cut cuffs with dotted gripper to ensure an excellent fit, the main fabric with microscopic pores that provide great breathablility and elasticity, and reflective inserts that ensure greater visibility in low-light conditions.
“The Tour of the Alps is one of the season’s big novelties – Northwave founder and owner Gianni Piva explained – opening a new perspective on the heels of the long-established Giro del Trentino, with a remarkable synergy of three regions and their respective citizens. We motivated to take on this new challenge, as will the riders who will be there for the final dress rehearsal before the Giro d’Italia. Let's get this show on the road!”
