July is the key month in World cycling for men and women: simultaneously with the Tour de France, the women cycling tackles the Giro d’Italia Femminile, the most important stage race of the season, starting on Friday July 6th from Verbania (Piedmont, Northern Italy), ending on Sunday July 15th in Cividale del Friuli (Friuli, Northern Italy). Three teams supplied by Northwave, Wiggle High5 Pro Cycling, Astana Women’s Team, Top Girls Fassa Bortolo, and an overall 21-rider group will take part in the 2018 Giro Rosa, characterized by 10 stages and 970 kilometers.

Wiggle High5’s Elisa Longo Borghini leads the Northwave “team” at Giro Rosa: runner-up in 2017, the 26-year-old former Italian Champion will try to take advantage by Monte Zoncolan’s slopes as a perfet springboard to her first Giro’s overall win, whilst Dutch Kirsten Wild, Track World Champion, goes for glory in the sprinters’ stages.
French Audrey Cordon-Ragot, Aussie Amy Cure, Austrian Martina Ritter, Japanese Eri Yonamine and Swedish Emilia Fahlin round-out the line-up of the British team, entirely equipped with Extreme RR, Northwave’s top-range road shoes featuring the XFrame® patented technology, that eliminates the points of pressure of the upper on the foot.
ASTANA WOMEN: THE GOAL IS A STAGE WIN WITH ARLENIS SIERRA
Astana Women’s Team will face the Giro Rosa with a strong line-up, led by the Cuban puncheur Arlenis Sierra and promising climbers like Sofia Bertizzolo, Carolina Rodriguez and Blanca Liliana Moreno, the latter in the spotlight at the Tour of California. Sofia Beggin and Lara Vieceli focus on the intermediate stages, whilst Kazakh Natalya Saifutdinova, 29, is the most experienced athlete of the team supplied by Northwave with Extreme RR shoes and the technical apparel designed and produced by the Custom Project atelier.
QUAGLIOTTO LEADS TOP GIRLS FASSA BORTOLO
Nadia Quagliotto is the leader of the Team Top Girls Fassa Bortolo, entirely equipped with Northwave Extreme RR shoes and the technical apparel by the Custom Project atelier. Vania Canvelli, Elena Leonardi, Chiara Perini, Francesca Pisciali, Laura Tomasi and Beatrice Rossano build the team’s roster.
