Jochen Kaess and Markus Kaufmann claimed the overall win in the popular Mountain Bike Marathon stage race for the fourth time in their career, wearing the overall leader jerseys designed by Northwave Custom Project. Two stage wins for the pair equipped with Ghost XC
The 2018 BIKE Transalp - the popular Mountain Bike stage race supported by Northwave as partner and official jersey supplier - ended in the name of the Italian company based in Onigo di Pederobba (Treviso). In fact, Centurion Vaude’s Jochen Kaess and Markus Kaufmann, equipped with Ghost XC shoes, celebrated the overall win for the fourth time in career in the transnational event (July 15th-21st), started from Imst (Austria) before ending in Arco (Trento, Northern Italy) after 7 stages, 506 kilometers and 18,000 meters of overall altitude between Italy, Austria and Switzerland.
Awarded with the overall leader jerseys, designed and realized by the Northwave Custom Project atelier, the laboratory dedicated to the custom technical apparel, Kaess and Kaufmann preceded Urs Huber and Simon Stiebjahn (+5’21”), whilst Uwe Hochenwarter and Gregory Brenes completed the overall podium at 28’33”.
After a regular start, Centurion Vaude’s athletes conquered the top of the GC, by ruling the “queen stage” of Monday July 16th: 102 Km from Nauders (Austria) to Livigno (Sondrio, Northern Italy) characterized by 3,500 meters of overall altitude. From that point, the German pair controlled the main rivals until the penultimate stage, always entering in the stage top-3, before legitimizing the overall success in the final showdown - 60 Km from Roncone to Arco (Trento) - with the second stage win.
