Wanty-Groupe Gobert’s Frenchman clinched victory in the last stage of the Italian race with his Northwave Extreme Pro shoes. Luis Leon Sanchez runner-up at GP Miguel Indurain
Guillaume Martin of Team Wanty-Groupe Gobert - entirely equipped with Northwave Extreme Pro shoes - took a beautiful win in Giro di Sicilia’s fourth and last stage (Giardini Naxos-Etna, 119 Km), on Saturday April 6th, confirming the eve’s predictions.
The French climber soloed on the finish line in Rifugio Sapienza, outdistancing his rivals in the last kilometer. Behind the stage winner, Italian Fausto Masnada and Colombian Dayer Quintana completed the day’s podium, as US Brandon McNulty (fourth on the day) took the overall success.
In the overall standings, McNulty preceded of 42 seconds Martin, with Masnada in third position at 56 seconds.
Meanwhile, Northwave was in the spotlight at Gran Premio Miguel Indurain as well, in Spain, with Astana Pro Team’s Luis Leon Sanchez. The 35-year-old rider placed second behind the winner, Frenchman Jonathan Hivert, whilst Colombian Sergio Higuita finished third.
