Meurisse takes GC runner-up honors at Tour de Luxembourg

Wanty-Groupe Gobert’s 25-year-old won the Youth Classification in the Grand Duchy’s race with Northwave Extreme RR shoes and Extreme Light Pro socks

Wanty Groupe Gobert’s Xandro Meurisse claimed the second overall place in the Skoda-Tour de Luxembourg, 2.HC category stage race staged from Wednesday May 31st to Sunday June 4th.

Equipped by Northwave with Extreme RR shoes and Extreme Light Pro socks, the 25-year-old Belgian rider has limited damage in the opening prologue, showing good legs in the most demanding stages. Twice third-placed in the stages 3 and 4, Meurisse took the Youth Classification, whilst in the GC Wanty’s rider finished 29 seconds behind winner, the Olympic Champion Greg Van Avermaet.

"I am all but disappointed about this 2nd place”, Meurisse said. - “Finishing behind the Olympic Champion was a great performance. I had some doubts before this race because of nerve problems in my knee, but I was able to show a better shape day by day."
