The Cannondale Factory Racing’s rider delivered at Oeztaler Forest Cross with Ghost XC shoes. Third place for European Champion Florian Vogel. Northwave hat-trick in the women’s race in Schaan with Switzerland’s Keller, Neff and Frei
After his third place in Nals, Maxime Marotte was not fully satisfied with his performance at Marlene Südtirol Sunshine Race. The Cannondale Factory Racing Frenchman didn’t waste time in making up for it, claiming a beautiful success in MountainBike Liga Austria’s stage 3, in Haiming (Austria), at the HC Oeztaler Forest Cross race, on Sunday April 22nd .
Equipped by Northwave with Ghost XC shoes, the French National Champion preceded Stephane Tempier (+ 0.22) and another Northwave rider, European Champion Florian Vogel (Focus XC Team), at 0.55. After an early part of the race dominated by Tempier, Marotte completed a wonderful comeback, winning the duel in the final lap on the Austrian course.
SWISS BIKE CUP: NORTHWAVE’S DOMINATION IN SCHAAN
More good news for Northwave came from Switzerland: in Swiss Bike Cup’s stage 2, in Schaan, the athletes supplied by the Italian company based in Onigo di Pederobba completed a podium hat-trick in the women’s race. Following the success claimed in Monte Tamaro, Swiss Alessandra Keller (Thomus RN Racing) extended her winning stretch in Schaan, preceding two World Champions: Jolanda Neff (Kross Racing Team) finished second ahead of U23 World Champion Sina Frei (Team Ghost). Fourth place for another Northwave’s biker, Linda Indergand (Focus XC Team).
In addition, Alessandra Keller leads the overall ranking with 200 points, ahead of Jolanda Neff (142) and Sina Frei (135), the latter winner one week ago in the UCI “Hors Catégorie” Marlene Südtirol Sunshine Race.
In the men’s race, Reto Indergand (BMC MTB Team) and Lukas Flückiger (Thomus RN Racing) placed third and fourth respectively as World Champion Nino Schurter clinched victory preceding Lars Forster. Forster leads Swiss Bike Cup’s GC with 150 points, ahead of three Northwave riders, Thomus RN Racing’s athlete and Nals’ winner Mathias Flückiger (136), Reto Indergand (135) and Lukas Flückiger (123).
INTERNAZIONALI D’ITALIA SERIES: BERTOLINI CLOSE TO THE OVERALL LEAD
In the stage 2 of Internazionali d’Italia Series - the most important Cross Country circuit in Italy, with Northwave as Main Partner and Official Jersey Supplier - Italian Gioele Bertolini (Focus Selle Italia) showed a very good athletic condition by finishing second in the first edition of Titano XCO. In San Marino, the U23 European Champion was preceded by Martin Loo, whilst Andrea Tiberi (Focus Selle Italia) completed the day’s podium.
“Gio il Bullo” went really close to the overall leader jersey designed by Northwave Custom Project: in fact, Bertolini has 51 points, tied with Martin Loo, but the Estonian wore the jersey thanks to the win achieved in San Marino. Andrea Tiberi occupies the third overall place with 44 points ahead of Swiss Mathias Flückiger (35), both Northwave riders as well.
