Three podium placements in World Cup round 4: Maxime Marotte fourth among men, Jolanda Neff and Helen Grobert fourth and fifth with Northwave Extreme XC
Northwave’s bikers were in the spotlight in XCO World Cup’s round 4 in Lenzerheide (Switzerland), on Sunday July 9th.
Cannondale Factory Racing’s Maxime Marotte, equipped with Extreme XC shoes, finished fourth in the Elite Men’s race. The 30-year-old Frenchman battled head to head until deep in the race with local hero Nino Schurter, who claimed his fourth win in as many rounds ahead of Czech Jaroslav Kulhavy and Russian Anton Sintsov.
Marotte’s great consistency led him to the second spot overall with 560 points, only behind season dominator Schurter (1000). Third place for David Valero (552).
Jolanda Neff (Kross Factory Racing) took fourth in the Elite Women’s race with her Northwave Extreme XC, crossing the line 1:03 behind winner Annie Last, whilst Norwegian Gunn-Rita Dahle and Ukrainian Yana Belomoina completed the day’s top-3. For the first time in her career, another Northwave rider, German Helen Grobert (Cannondale Factory Racing), also stepped on the World Cup podium in fifth position. Ninth place for Swiss Linda Indergand (Focus XC Team), third in the GC with 560 points behind Belomoina (800) and Maja Wloszczowska (640).
