Lobato stands out at Coppa Sabatini with Extreme RR

Nippo-Vini Fantini-Europa Ovini’s Spaniard gave Northwave the second win in a row in Peccioli after Pasqualon’s success in the 2017 edition

Northwave clinched win at Coppa Sabatini for the second edition in a row: one year later Andrea Pasqualon’s success in Peccioli (Pisa, Central Italy), Spaniard Juan José Lobato of the Team Nippo-Vini Fantini-Europa Ovini - entirely supplied with Northwave Extreme RR shoes - proved to be the strongest in the last kilometer characterized by a slight uphill finish, preceding Italy’s Sonny Colbrelli and Gianni Moscon on Thursday September 20th.

Lobato unleashed the decisive attack with 400 meters to go, chased by Colbrelli’s teammate Giovanni Visconti, who failed to hook the Nippo rider in the final straight. Fourth place for the winner’s teammate Marco Canola, whilst two more Northwave athletes, New Zealander Dion Smith (Wanty-Groupe Gobert) and the U23 World Champion Benoit Cosnefroy (Ag2r-La Mondiale), finished eighth and ninth, respectively.

Wednesday September 19th, Belgian Timothy Dupont (Wanty-Groupe Gobert) claimed the third place at the Omloop van het Houtland Lichtervelde, in Belgium, preceded by winner Jonas Van Genechten and Jasper De Buyst.
