Another major result for Extreme XC in the European event with Radon XC’s Swiss specialist, joined on the podium by another Northwave rider, Dutch Anne Terpstra (Ghost Factory Racing), on July 28th
Back from a hugely successful opening day – with Swiss Filippo Colombo, Linda Indergand and Alessandra Keller’s gold medals, and Dane Malene Degn and Caroline Bohe silver in the Team Relay race – the Northwave riders kept on playing starring roles in the Cross Country Eliminator finals at the European Mountain Bike Championships in Darfo Boario (Italy), on Friday, July 28th. The new Women’s European champion is Swiss Kathrin Stirnemann (Team Radon XC), who claimed the title for the third time in her career after 2014 and 2015, whilst fellow Northwave rider, Dutch Anne Terpstra (Ghost Factory Racing) had to settle for the third spot and the bronze medal.
Stirnemann finished the XCE Women’s Big Final in 1'19"39, with a 86-hundredth of second advantage on Czech Barbora Prudkova and 3 seconds on Anne Terpstra. Stirnemann also has a World XCE title to her name, in 2014.
The European Championships continue with the XCO races on Saturday July 29th and Sunday July 30th.
