The European Champion was third with Extreme XC ahead of Linda Indergand. Maxime Marotte fifth in the Men’s Elite race, Gioele Bertolini fourth among U23
Swiss Jolanda Neff (Kross Racing Team) achieved the third place in the Women’s Elite race of the UCI XC World Cup round 2 in Albstadt (Germany), on Sunday May 28th. After a less-than-brilliant debut in Nove Mesto, the blonde Swiss was consistently in the top position of the German stage, claiming her first World Cup podium in the season with her Northwave Extreme XC shoes.
Ukrainian Yana Belomoina was a surprise winner in Albstadt, coming out on distance and edging another Kross Racing Team rider, Pole Maja Wloszczowska. Like in Nove Mesto, the Northwave riders rode prominently in numbers, starting with four top-7 placements in the Women Elite race: in addition to Jolanda Neff, Linda Indergand (Focus XC Team) finished fourth, followed by Alessandra Keller (Radon XC Team) in sixth and early-leader Sabine Spitz (Wiawis Bikes Pro Team) in seventh.
The Men’s Elite Race saw another success by World Champion Nino Schurter after Nove Mesto, though his lead was threatened until halfway through the race by Mathieu Van Der Poel and Matthias Fluckiger, the Northwave rider of Team Radon who was taken out of contention by a scary crash downhill. The Cannondale Factory Racing team celebrated two top-10 placements with Maxime Marotte, 5th, and home-rider Manuel Fumic, 9th, whilst another Northwave rider, Florian Vogel (Focus XC Team) placed between them in eight.
On Saturday May 27th, Northwave had opened the weekend with the solid fourth place by Gioele Bertolini (Team NOB Selle Italia) in the Men’s U23 race, ended in an Italian party with the success delivered by Nadir Colledani.
