In Station des Rousses Wanty-Groupe Gobert’s 24-year-old gave Northwave a prestigious podium spot in the stage 8
Guillaume Martin (Wanty-Groupe Gobert) conquered a brilliant third place in Tour de France stage 8, 187,5 Km from Dole to Station des Rousses, on Saturday July 8th. Martin, 24, equipped with Northwave Extreme RR shoes and Extreme Air socks, followed up to eve’s intentions in a demanding stage, confirming himself as one of the best French cycling’s prospects.
Martin moved on the attack on the last climb of the day, Côte de la Combe de Laisia-Les Molunes, surviving out to the recovery of the peloton in the last kilometers, whilst Lilian Calmejane conquered the most important success of his career with a long breakaway, preceding Dutchman Robert Gesink. Fifth place for another Northwave rider, Czech Roman Kreuziger (Orica-SCOTT).
Chris Froome maintained the yellow jersey preceding in the GC his teammate Geraint Thomas and Italian Fabio Aru; South African Louis Meintjes (UAE Emirates), equipped with Northwave Extreme RR shoes, occupies the thirteenth place (+1:24) and the third place in the Youth Classification led by Brit Simon Yates.
