Timothy Dupont (Wanty-Groupe Gobert) took the third place in Etoile de Besseges’ stage 2 (Nimes - Générac 151 Km), in France, on Thursday February 1st. Equipped by Northwave with Extreme RR shoes and Extreme Air socks, the 30-year-old Belgian rider was preceded in the bunch sprint by France’s Christophe Laporte and Bryan Coquard.
In addition, stage winner Laporte conquered the overall leadership, whilst Dupont occupies the fifth place 6 seconds behind the leader, despite being involved in a crash in the opening stage on Wednesday January 31st.
“Fortunately I didn’t suffer too much from the crash, although I had some problems with my back - Dupont explains. - It was a fast and nervous stage today but this third place shows that I am in good shape. Tomorrow will be a fairly difficult stage. We will see how we survive to that day. On Saturday there will certainly be another chance of a bunch sprint, and I want to play my best chances”.
