Elisa Longo Borghini excellent third at Strade Bianche

After winning the 2017 edition, the Italian National Champion equipped with Northwave Extreme RR confirmed her feeling with the gravel roads of the Women’s World Tour opening round

Elisa Longo Borghini confirmed her amazing chemistry with the Strade Bianche taking third in the Women’s World Tour opening round. After the success conquered in the 2017 edition, the athlete of Team Wiggle High5 Pro Cycling, entirely equipped with Northwave Extreme RR shoes, was in the thick of action for the whole day, despite the extreme weather conditions making the race harder. Longo Borghini crossed the finish line in the scenic Piazza del Campo in Siena behind Dutch Anna Van der Breggen and Poland’s Katarzyna Niewiadoma on Saturday March 3rd.

The winner, 2016 Olympic Champion in Rio, moved on the attack with 15Km to go, opening the gap on the gravel roads to achieve a wonderful solo win, 0:49” ahead of runner-up Niewiadoma with the 26-year-old Italian National Champion rounding out the podium (+0:59”).

Boosted by the excellent result in Tuscany, the team under the guidance of Rochelle Gilmore, sets course for the Northern Classics with high spirit, taking advantage by the XFrame® patented technology characterizing the Extreme RR shoes, that offer the maximum power transfer on the pedals, thanks to the snuggest fit ever and the elimination of the pressure points on the upper: the new partnership between Northwave and the Team Wiggle High5 Pro Cycling already became a success.
