The Northwave rider of BMC Racing Team claimed the overall second place after wearing the leader’s jersey in two occasions
“It was my best race ever”, commented Italian Damiano Caruso after Tirreno-Adriatico’s seventh and final stage - a 10-Km individual time trial in San Benedetto del Tronto (Central Italy). Equipped by Northwave with Extreme RR shoes, the BMC Racing Team rider finished second in the overall standings of the “Race of the Two Seas”, 24 seconds behind the winner, Pole Michal Kwiatkowski. Brit Geraint Thomas completed the final podium at 32 seconds.
Overall leader following the opening Team Time Trial won by BMC, Caruso showed his all-rounder’s skills, also wearing the blue jersey after stage 4 with the uphill finish in Sassotetto, remaining in the run for the overall win until the final time trial. In the last day, the Italian athlete defended the second place from Geraint Thomas’ assault, taking advantage by the XFrame® patented technology characterizing the Extreme RR shoes, that offer the maximum power transfer on the pedals, thanks to the snuggest fit ever and the elimination of the pressure points on the upper.
“I did try my best from start to finish - said Caruso - without thinking of the classification. Now, I want to continue this trend, and take more prestigious results”.
Aussie Rohan Dennis clinched victory in Tirreno-Adriatico’s final stage preceding Jos Van Emden and Jonathan Castroviejo.
