Baugnies seals hat-trick in Overijse. Kudus runner-up at Vuelta

Good day for the Northwave riders: Wanty’s 30-year-old rider sprints to win at Druivenkoers-Overijse (Meurisse third). Dimension Data’s Eritrean claimed a prestigious result on Alcossebre’s finish line

Jerome Baugnies gave Wanty-Groupe Gobert - entirely equipped by Northwave with Extreme RR and Extreme Air socks - the fifth seasonal win, on Wednesday August 23rd at the Druivenkoers, in Belgium. The 30-year-old Belgian athlete won for the third year in a row in Overijse (Belgium), preceding Norwegian Amund Grondhal Jansen and the teammate Xandro Meurisse.

Vuelta a España’s stage 5, 157,7 Km from Benicàssim to Alcossebre, was inflamed by a breakaway attempt that earned the chance to contest the stage win on the final hill. Merhawi Kudus (Dimension Data) crossed the finish line in second place after an excellent performance, preceded by Kazakh Alexey Lutsenko. Behind Marc Soler, third on the line, another Northwave rider equipped with Extreme RR, Slovenian Matej Mohoric (Team UAE Emirates), finished fourth, whilst Brit Christopher Froome maintained the overall leader’s red jersey.

More good news for the Wanty-Groupe Gobert came from France: the Belgian squad leads the Teams’ Classification at the Tour du Poitou Charentes preceding Sport Vlaanderen-Baloise and Ag2r-La Mondiale after the stage 2 (Saint-Savinien-sur-Charente - Roumazières-Loubert 185,7 Km) won by Frenchman Nacer Bouhanni. In addition, Wanty’s sprinter Danilo Napolitano occupies the fourth overall place with the same time of the leader Bouhanni.
