Backaert third at Critérium du Dauphiné after 180 Km breakaway

Wanty-Groupe Gobert’s 27-year-old rider equipped by Northwave earned the chance to contest the win in the stage 3 with Northwave Extreme RR shoes and Extreme Light Pro socks

Northwave’s rider, Frederik Backaert was third in Critérium du Dauphiné’s stage 3, in France, 184 Km from Le Chambon-sur-Lignon to Tullins, on Tuesday June 6th.

The 27-year-old Belgian gave Wanty -Groupe Gobert the first podium finish in the 69th edition of the World Tour stage race, a traditional dress rehearsal ahead of the Tour de France, where the Belgian squad will line up at the start for the first time in its history.

Equipped by Northwave with Extreme RR shoes and Extreme Light Pro socks, Backaert was preceded in the final sprint by Dutchman Kevin Bouwman and Lithuanian Evaldas Siskevicius after a 180 Km breakaway. Belgian Thomas De Gendt maintained the overall leadership.

Another Wanty rider, Frenchman Guillaume Martin, occupies the tenth place in the General Classification, 1:09 behind leader De Gendt, and the third place in the Youth Classification, 0:02 behind leader Pierre Latour.
