Jolanda Neff queen of Val di Sole with Northwave Extreme XC

The Swiss superstar victorious in XCO World Cup’s final round in Italy. Marotte nabs the third overall place in the Elite Men’s category. U23: Fagerhaug third in the stage and overall

The World Championships in Cairns (Australia, September 5-10) are getting closer and the build to the big appointment couldn’t go any better for Northwave’s Jolanda Neff (Kross Racing Team). On Sunday August 27th, the Swiss superstar conquered the XCO World Cup’s final round, in Val di Sole (Trentino, Northern Italy), claiming the most prestigious success in her 2017 season, and the first in the World Cup for the year.

The 24-year-old from Thal brought her Northwave Extreme XC on the top spot of the Elite Women podium after an excellent performance, preceding of 21 seconds the overall winner Yana Belomoina, whilst Pole Maja Wloszczowska placed third 1’09” behind the day’s winner.

Neff pushed up the pace from the early on, passing first on the finish from the starting lap. She then got clear along with with Belomoina in the third lap, and eventually outdistanced the main rival with two laps to go, whilst behind the head of the race, Wloszczowska managed to beat Russian Kalentyeva for the third spot.

In the GC, Neff and another Northwave’s biker, Linda Indergand (Focus XC Team), finished fourth and fifth respectively with 715 and 711 points, as Belomoina triumphed with 1250 points preceding Wloszczowska (770) and Annika Langvad (744).

MAROTTE OVERALL THIRD IN THE MEN’S CATEGORY

Maxime Marotte (Cannondale Factory Racing) grabbed the third place in the World Cup overall standings. The 30-year-old French biker, seventeenth today in the race won by Nino Schurter ahead of Stephane Tempier and Julian Absalon, totalized 772 points, as the ruler Schurter, winner of all World Cup rounds, and Tempier scored 1500 and 850. Marotte’s teammate Manuel Fumic and Florian Vogel (Focus XC Team) finished overall ninth and tenth respectively with 507 and 496 points. European Champion Vogel was the best Northwave rider in today’s race, taking seventh with Extreme XC.

U23: FAGERHAUG THIRD IN THE STAGE AND OVERALL

Petter Fagerhaug (Norway), winner of the World Cup’s opening round in Nove Mesto, claimed the third place in the U23 Men’s category with his Northwave Extreme XC shoes behind Nadir Colledani and Martin Blums. In addition, the Scandinavian youngster finished overall third with 207 points, preceded by Blums (420) and Colledani (363). Two more Northwave bikers, Gioele Bertolini (Team NOB Selle Italia) and Jan Vastl (Czech Republic), were in the spotlight today, placing sixth and tenth, respectively.
